I am excited to announce that River Run Anglers' Speyfair (Speyclave) will be held on October 21-23, 2005, in Carnation, Washington! I am sending you this personal note now in hopes that you will make early plans to join us. I have booked space for this year’s Speyfair at the Tolt-MacDonald Park, less than a mile from the shop. Thanks to a sturdy, suspended foot-bridge, this unique venue will allow casting from both sides of the Snoqualmie River. I am not aware of any other speyclave in the world that can boast such opportunity. In addition to the casting demonstrations we will be conducting distance casting games. There will be two classes casting: long and short belly. In each class there will be two categories: 15 ft or shorter category and the unlimited rod category. This should provide a class and category for everyone, and fun should be had by all. At this time in October, the river should hold the peak of the summer steelhead run. There should also be many King, Coho, and pink salmon present.
I have reserved many camping sites for vendor boots, equipment trials, and informal attendee discussion. There are many campsites in the park which will be available to attendees. Reservations can be made directly with King County Parks. (Please see Accommodations page under Speyclaves.) There are also many hotels and motels within a short drive of Carnation. A non-profit organization will offer food items at the Speyfair.
Please plan to join us this year.
